Lord McCaulay (1800-59) holds that no person can write, perform, or appreciate poetry “without a certain unsoundness of mind.” Similarly, I have long found that writers and speakers on the topics of mind, God, and knowledge are full of lingo, gibberish, specious parlance, jargon, argot, cant, sanctimony, hypocrisy, malarkey, balderdash, horse feathers, rubbish, bunk, nonsense, hogwash, rot, bullshit, poppycock [Dutch for “soft shit”], hooey, baloney, crap, and so on. ...
