Now the Sarasota Herald-Tribune describes a Washington, D.C., man's petition to change the name of the narrow channel on Key Largo known as Jewfish Creek.

The president of the Keys Jewish Community Center in nearby Tavernier, however, said the name of the creek "is not a subject of conversation among Jewish people around here," and local Monroe County commissioners voted unanimously last week against renaming the creek.
